PHARMACEUTICAL ANALYTICAL PROFILE OF AGNISUNU RASA - A KHALWIYA RASAYANA
Dr. Anushree B. S.* and Dr. Surekha S. Medikeri
. Abstract Introduction: Agnisunu Rasa is a powerful herbo-mineral formulation composed of Kajjali, Shankha Bhasma, Kaparda Bhasma, and Maricha. Recognized as one of the most potent mercurial preparations, it is classified under Kharaliya Rasayana. Given that Agnisunu Rasa has not yet undergone pharmaceutical and analytical standardization, this study aims to focus on its preparation and analytical evaluation. Materials and Methods: Authentic raw materials were selected and evaluated according to classical Grahya Lakshana, and Agnisunu Rasa was prepared following traditional references. Organoleptic, physicochemical, and instrumental analyses were conducted for Agnisunu Rasa. Observation and Results: Agnisunu Rasa analysis showed 35.31% total ash, pH 6.29, specific gravity 2.20, 10.67% loss on drying, 5.94% acid-insoluble ash, and 18.14% water-soluble ash, with a disintegration time of 19 minutes. XRD identified metacinnabar (HgS) and calcite (CaCO3). SEM revealed particle sizes of 13.192 to 139.714 nm, and EDAX showed 42.29% Carbon, 7.31% Mercury, and 7.46% Calcium. FTIR identified various functional groups including carboxylic acid, amine salts, ketones, and ethers. Keywords: Agnisunu Rasa, kharaliya Rasayana, Instrumental Analysis.
