SUCCESSFUL MANAGEMENT OF ANARTAV BY SHATPUSHPA CHOORNA AND YOGBASTI – A CASE STUDY
Dr. Bhagyashri Salunkhe* and Dr. Seema Mehere
. Abstract When a woman with regular periods stops menstruating for six months or more, it's known as secondary amenorrhea. Pathological secondary amenorrhea is commonly caused by Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). The presence of any two of the following criteria—polycystic ovaries, hyperandrogenism, and oligo and/or anovulation—will result in the diagnosis of polycystic ovarian syndrome. It might be regarded as Nashtartava in Ayurveda. Metformin and other insulin sensitizers, as well as hormonal preparations like oral contraceptive pills, are the mainstays of modern PCOS care. Contraceptive pill use is linked to side effects such as breakthrough bleeding (BTB), headaches, nausea, and spotting. These issues were the side effects of hormone treatment, which is why she was obliged to quit taking them. The two lines of treatment stated in Ayurveda are Samshodhana (purificatory technique) and Agneya dravya upayoga. Careful administration of method like basti observed. Soon after beginning of treatment she had her first menstrual period, and then two more at intervals of 33–35 days. Her mood swings, and growth of facial hair also stopped. This example shows how Ayurveda can effectively treat Nashtartava without causing any negative side effects. Keywords: It might be regarded as Nashtartava in Ayurveda.
