PROSPECTS OF KRIMIGHNA MAHAKASHAYA IN AYURVEDA FOR ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE

Abstract Antimicrobial resistance refers to the ability of the microorganism to resist the effect of medication. Ayurveda an ancient system of medicine addresses antimicrobial resistance through the utilisation of herbs and formulations. In Ayurveda "Krimi" refers to macro and micro organisms. Ayurveda recognises various types of parasites, microorganism as external (Bahya) and internal (Abhyantara) "Krimi". The krimis can be considered as microorganism like bacteria, virus, fungi, parasites etc. For the treatment of these krimis "Krimighna mahakashaya" (10 herbs combination) has been described in Ayurveda. These herbs are belief to have potential antimicrobial properties. So this study refers to the antimicrobial effects of Krimighna mahakashaya to combat the drug resistance of microorganisms.
