Abstract Hypertension, or high blood pressure, affects millions worldwide and it is a leading risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Both nonpharmacological and pharmacological treatment options are available to treat hypertension. While medication is often necessary, complementary therapies like yoga are gaining recognition for their potential in managing hypertension. Yoga, an ancient practice that combines physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation, offers a holistic approach to health that can positively impact blood pressure levels. Through its stress-reducing effects and promotion of relaxation, yoga has emerged as a promising adjunctive therapy for hypertension. This article explores the therapeutic role of yoga in hypertension, examining its physiological effects, evidence-based benefits, and practical applications in clinical settings.
