Anant Saznam*, Chandan Kumar Pathak, Haider Ali and Deepali Sundari Verma
Abstract Bhagandara is a common disease occurring in ano-rectal region. In Samhitas many types of treatment of this disease are available. Sushruta, has given a detailed description of Bhagandara, which includes types of Bhagandara, definition, aetiology, pathogenesis, prodormal signs, symptoms, abscesses which culminate Bhagandara and prognosis of the disease. An anal fistula can be described as a narrow tunnel with its internal opening in the anal canal and its external opening in the skin near the anus. Anal fistula are abnormal communications, hollow tracts lined by unhealthy granulation tissue connecting the primary opening inside the anal canal to a secondary opening in the perianal skin. Anal fistulas are almost never found to heal early. The inner wall of the fistula develops fibres tissue and pyogenic membrane not allowing spontaneous healing. Definitive treatment of a fistula aims to stop it recurring. Treatment depends on where the fistula lies, and which parts of the anal sphincter it crosses. Keywords: Bhagandara, Fistula-in-Ano, Treatment. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
