MANAGEMENT OF HAEMORRHOID WITH BARRON’S RUBBER BAND LIGATION – A CASE STUDY

Abstract Amongst all the ailments that afflict the mankind haemorrhoids are definitely the commonest of them. The disease, haemorrhoids or piles do not have any exception in regard to the race or sex, although men are two times more affected than women, however the older ones are also affected than children. Haemorrhoids disease is the fourth leading outpatient gastrointestinal diagnosis, accounting for approx 3.3 million ambulatory care visists in the United state,[1] Haemorrhoids frequently potrayed as “dilated veins within the anal canal.‟‟[2] Haemorrhoids are major disease of ano-rectal region and is characterised by itching or irritation in anal region, prolapse or protrusion of mass, swelling around anus, mucous discharge, bleeding and pain.[2] Aetiology is erect posture, straining to expel constipated stool caused dilation of the venous plexus or low roughage western diet may exite haemorrhoid formation.[2] In Ayurvedic classics, Arsha can be compared with haemorrhoids or piles in modern science. Aacharya Sushruta, the father of surgery extravagantly poetrayed about Arshroga in his “ashta mahagada” as it occurs in guda, which is the place of marma and it is notable for its chronicity and consistently treatable.
