EFFECTS, PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTIONS, PHYTOCHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS AND THEURAUPTIC APPLICATIONS OF BARLERIA GIBSONIODES

. Abstract The medicinal plant Barleria gibsonioides is well-known for its rich phytochemical composition and variety of pharmacological characteristics. This plant, which is a member of the Acanthaceae family, has long been utilized in herbal medicine due to its medicinal properties. The presence of flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, glycosides, phenolics, and steroids has been identified by phytochemical studies as contributing to its pharmacological properties. The plant is a viable target for drug research because of its strong antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, analgesic, and hepatoprotective qualities. Its bioactive components have also demonstrated promise in the treatment of long-term conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. In order to emphasize Barleria gibsonioides' potential use in contemporary medicine, this article attempts to present a thorough summary of its effects, pharmacological activity, phytochemical ingredients, and therapeutic uses. To confirm its effectiveness and safety for medical usage, more research is necessary, including clinical trials and mechanistic studies.
