. Abstract Background: Varuna-Shigru Kwatha is mentioned by Acharya Yoga Ratnakar in Kaphaja Ashmari Chikitsa and also is indicated for urinary diseases. So for initialization of standardization and assurance of the quality of herbal compounds pharmacognostical and pharmaceutical analysis should be done. Methods: Varuna-Shigru Kwatha were subjected to microscopic evaluation for pharmacognostical and physicochemical analysis like Loss on drying, total ash, water soluble extract, alcohol soluble extract and ph value. Results: Pharmacognostical study showed the presence of certain identifying characters of all the ingredients of Varuna -Shigru Kwatha Yavakuta. As per the preliminary physiochemical analysis, loss on drying percentage of the Varuna Yavakuta was 6.24% w/w, pH value was 7, total ash value was 6.48% w/w, Water soluble extractive was 18% w/w and Methanol soluble extractive was 13.8%w/w. As per the preliminary physiochemical analysis, loss on drying percentage of the Sigru Yavakuta the was 5.78% w/w, pH value was 7, total ash value was 6.96% w/w, Water soluble extractive was 15.12% w/w and Methanol soluble extractive was 8.32% w/w. Conclusions: Pharmacognostical and physico-chemical observations revealed the specific characteristics of all active constituents of Varuna -Shigru Yavakuta confirmed the purity and genuinity of the drug. Keywords: Varuna -Shigru Yavakuta, Anemia associated with NDD -CKD, Kaphaja Pandu, Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical analysis. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
