.
Abstract Dithiocarbamates are versatile metal-chelating compounds with significant applications in medicine, agriculture, and industry. Their sulfur atoms enable strong coordination with metal centers, forming stable complexes that exhibit diverse biological activities. Dithiocarbamates are potent inhibitors of the nuclear factor-κB signaling cascade and proteasome activity, making them promising agents in cancer therapy. Beyond oncology, virology, antimicrobial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. Their ability to inhibit enzymes critical to pathogen survival has been exploited in treating various infectious diseases. Furthermore, dithiocarbamates serve as effective heavy metal chelators for environmental remediation and industrial applications. Recent studies highlight their efficacy against various cancer cell lines by inducing apoptosis and inhibiting proteasome function. Additionally, Dithiocarbamates derivatives have shown antiviral properties, including activity against human coronaviruses, further underscoring their therapeutic potential. Their future scope is promising, development progresses, they may play an increasingly critical role in addressing both health-related challenges.
