FORMULATION OF ANARDANA VATI
Shagun Gupta*, Ashi Patel and Jyoti Singh
. Abstract Nutraceuticals, also known as nutritional supplements, are products that combine nutrients and pharmaceuticals to promote health and wellness. Anar-dana Vati is a traditional Ayurvedic formulation that combines pomegranate (Punica granatum) seeds, commonly known as Anar-dana, with various medicinal herbs and minerals. This herbal preparation has been utilized in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries for its therapeutic properties. Anar-dana, rich in antioxidants, vitamins (especially Vitamin C), and organic acids, is primarily known for its digestive, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial benefits. The synergistic effect of Anar-dana in the formulation of Vati (a small, compressed tablet form) is believed to enhance its efficacy in promoting digestive health, improving appetite, and alleviating gastrointestinal disorders such as indigestion, bloating, and acidity. Additionally, Anar-dana Vati is considered beneficial for improving overall metabolic function, boosting immunity, and supporting heart health due to the antioxidant properties of pomegranate. Modern research into the bioactive compounds of Anar-dana supports its traditional uses, demonstrating its role as a natural remedy for oxidative stress, digestive health, and chronic inflammation. Pomegranate has long been recognized for its rich content of polyphenolic compounds, including flavonoids, tannins, and anthocyanins, which confer potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. The seeds of the fruit also contain significant levels of vitamin C, dietary fiber, and organic acids such as citric and malic acid, which are known to support digestion and metabolic health.
