HOMOEOPATHIC MANAGEMENT OF LUMPY SKIN DISEASE IN A BULL: A CASE REPORT
Dr. Sunil Verma, Dr. Avinashi Shukla* and Dr. Somendra Yadav
. Abstract A highly contagious new viral disease affecting cattle and buffaloes in India is called lumpy skin disease (LSD). Mosquitoes, biting flies, Culicoides midges, and three blood-sucking hard ticks are the primary arthropods that spread the disease because they operate as mechanical vectors. Skin nodules all over the body, fever, nasal and lacrimal discharge, anorexia, reduced milk production, emaciation, sadness, and hesitancy to move are notable clinical symptoms. Since the initial discovery of lumpy skin disease in India, the condition has been swiftly spreading throughout the nation, potentially endangering the production and mortality of the cattle and buffalo population.[1] This study was intended to evolve an effective management in lumpy skin disease and to assess the effectiveness. Case report of lumpy skin disease and a brief review of the literature on its clinical presentation, diagnosis and therapeutic approach is mentioned here. A treatment protocol was designed based on the clinical evaluation homoeopathic medicines were indicated, i.e., Belladona, Mercurius Solubilis, Phytolacca Decandra and Conium Maculatum. Follow up assessment was done and complete resolution of presenting complaints was noted at completion of treatment. This case report proposes homoeopathic treatment as a feasible complementary or alternative therapy and emphasis the importance of repertorization in individualized homoeopathic prescription.
