A REVIEW OF THE IMPACT OF POLYMER TYPE OF POLYMER ON DRUG RELEASE AND BIOAVAILABILITY OF SUSTAINEDRELEASE TABLET
Ojaswini Urkudkar*, Kanchan Upadhye, Anup Thakre, Shrutika Bhurse, Namrta Hole
. Abstract An appropriately designed sustained release dosage form is opted to be a major goal in solving the problems which arises regarding the targeting of a drug to a specific organ or tissue and for controlling its rate of delivery to the target site. Depending on the mechanism of drug release from the vehicles, it can be divided into four categories (diffusion, solvent, chemical interaction, and stimulated release). Polymers, synthetic, semi synthetic and natural, play a critical role in modern drug delivery systems by enhancing the efficacy, targeting, and release profiles of therapeutic agents Polymers, are created via polymerization of many small molecules, known as monomers with double or triple bonds (unsaturated compounds). The fundamental reasoning of sustained release tablet exemplifies the pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic and biopharmaceutical effects of a drug so that it utility is increased, reduced the side-effects and control the disease. Keywords: Polymer, Drug delivery system, sustained drug delivery system, type of polymer, drug release. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
