PHYTOCHEMCIAL AND PHARMACOLOGICAL EVALUTION OF FICUS AURICULATA PLANT FOR ITS THERAPUTIC BENEFITS

Abstract Ficus auriculata is a member of the Moraceae family. Because of its huge leaves, it is also known as the Elephant Earfig Tree. Deshi Anjir, Thontippazham, Anjoora, Phagoora, Racha Bodda, Atthi, and Timla Raj Dimri are some of its common names in India. The plants are mostly found between 1800 and 2600 meters above sea level in temperate, tropical, and subtropical climates. India, China, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia are among its original Asian countries. The plants are utilized in traditional folk medicine to treat a wide range of human illnesses and have significant ethnomedical value. Alkaloids, sugars, saponins, glycosides, phytosterols, resins, phenols, tannins, diterpenes, flavonoids, proteins, and amino acids are examples of phytoconstituents found in fruit extract, bark, and leaves. According to the review, the bark, leaves, and fruit extract of Ficus auriculata contain a vast number of phytochemicals that were isolated from the plant and have biological and pharmacological properties, such as antioxidant, antibacterial, hepatoprotective, histopathological studies, toxicity activity, anti-cancer, antidiabatic, hyperlipidemic, hyperglycemic, and antiinflammatory effects. Leaf extract is utilized as fodder for farming systems, for its therapeutic qualities, and for other commercial purposes. It also plays a significant part in the heart glutathione level.
