ROLE OF AYURVEDA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF MUKHAPAKA W.S.R. TO STOMATITIS

Abstract Ayurveda having the main aim which is prevention is better than cure1. The branch of Ayurveda called as Shalakya Tantra was described as Urdhavanga Chikitsa in Ashtanga Ayurveda, which deals with diseases related to the Nose, Ear, Eyes, Throat etc, Urdhavajatrugata organs2. Mukha is one of the important organ of human body which is an opening part of Annavaha Strotas [Digestive system]. Therefore, the proper oral hygiene has been maintained for mouth region. Mukhapaka is one among Mukharogas which is commonly found in daily practice. Mukhapaka was formed due to vitiation of Kapha Dosha at mouth. In modern science, Mukhapaka was correlated with Stomatitis / Oral ulcer. Management of Mukhagata Rogas includes various treatments which includes Kavala, Gandusha, Jivhanirlekhana, Shamana Chikitsa. This managements were helps to reduces the Sthanika Kapha vitiation which provides Shamana. Therefore, this case study includes, Ayurvedic management for Mukhapaka w.s.r. to Stomatitis.
