A CRITICAL REVIEW ON CORRELATION BETWEEN TRIGUNA AND NEUROTRANSMITTERS
Dr. Neha Sharma and Dr. Parvesh Kumari Ohlan
Abstract The concept of Triguna, first introduced in SankhyaDarshana and later incorporated into Ayurveda, describes the universe as being composed of three fundamental qualities: Satwa, Raja, and Tama. Since humans mirror the universe through both body and mind, they are similarly structured through these three attributes. The interconnections between Triguna and elements like Panchamahabhuta, Tridosha, and Shadchakra have been extensively explored. A notable link is also observed between Transactional Analysis and the theory of Triguna. Core human emotions—love, hatred, and fear—are aligned with needs, actions, and states of confusion, respectively. These attributes are not only interconnected and complementary but can also act in opposition to one another. Holistic wellness in humans encompasses eight interdependent aspects, none of which can be fulfilled through dominance of a single Guna. A balanced interplay of Satwa, Raja, and Tama is crucial for achieving well-being. Similarly, an individual's multiple intelligences are shaped by the predominance of particular Gunas. Recognizing and nurturing these intelligences can empower individuals to succeed in their respective environments. This study is an earnest effort to explore and highlight the significance of the Triguna framework. Keywords: Triguna, Siddhanta, Shadchakra, transactional analysis, wellness, multiple intelligences.
