Abstract

A CLINICO - COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE ROLE OF VIRECHANA KARMA (ERANDA HARITAK YOGA) WITH AND WITHOUT PRIOR VAMANA KARMA (KRTAVEDHANA SIDDHA YOGA) IN THE MANAGEMENT OF AMAVATA (RHEUMATIOD ARTHRITIS) IN TERMS OF INTERLEUKIN 6 (IL-6)

Abstract

Āmavāta is a disease of Madhyama rogamārga, affecting Sandhi and Hṛdaya marma Āma which has been blended with vitiated vāta when driven to Śleṣhmasthana, results in disease called Āmavāta. According to Āyurveda Samāgni is very important factor to maintain the swāstyam any disturbances in this agni leads to many diseases, one among the diseases because of mandāgni is Āmavāta. Methods: For present study out of 40 selected patients total 40 patients, completed the treatments i.e. 20 in group A & 20 in group B completed the course of the therapy & were randomly divided into two groups viz; group A in which Vamana (Kṛtavedanā siddha yoga) followed by Virechana (Eṛanda Harītaki yoga) for a period of 39 days.; and second group B in which Virechana (Eṛanda Harītaki yoga) for a period of 23 days was given. Results: The overall effect of the treatments in Group A was statistically analysed using with a Paired t – test. The test showed highly significant results with a P value
