A REVIEW OF HOMEOPATHIC THERAPEUTICS IN URINARY CALCULUS: FROM ACUTE PAIN TO PREVENTION
Dr. Alok Kumar Mittal* MD.(Hom), Dr. Noushaba Khan MD(Hom.) and Dr. Mohammad Ishak MD(Hom.)
Abstract Background: Urinary calculus (kidney stones) is a prevalent urological disorder affecting approximately 10% of the global population, with high recurrence rates. Conventional treatments, including analgesics, lithotripsy, and surgery, often focus on symptom management rather than prevention. Homeopathy offers a holistic alternative by addressing acute symptoms, promoting stone expulsion, and preventing recurrence through individualized remedies. Objective: This review aims to evaluate the efficacy of homeopathic therapeutics in managing urinary calculi across different stages—acute pain relief, stone dissolution, and long-term prevention—while highlighting key remedies and their clinical applications. Method: A comprehensive analysis of homeopathic literature, materia medica, and clinical studies was conducted to identify commonly used remedies for urinary calculi. The selection criteria included symptom specificity, historical usage, and reported therapeutic outcomes. Conclusion: Homeopathy provides a safe and effective approach to urinary calculus management, from acute colic relief to constitutional prevention. Further clinical research is needed to establish standardized protocols and validate long-term efficacy. Keywords: Homeopathy, urinary calculus, kidney stones, renal colic, Berberis vulgaris, Cantharis, Sarsaparilla, stone prevention. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
