COMPARATIVE MACROSCOPIC AND MICROSCOPIC ANALYSIS OF SEED SAMPLES OF MADHUCA LATIFOLIA ROXB. AND MADHUCA LONGIFOLIA (KOEN.) MACBR: IMPLICATIONS FOR PHARMACOGNOSTIC EVALUATION IN THE MANAGEMENT OF SANDHIGATA VATA
Renu Dixit*, J. Akshata and Bhaskar Reddy K. V. V.
. Abstract This study presents a comparative pharmacognostic evaluation of seed samples from Madhuca latifolia and Madhuca longifolia, with a focus on their potential use in managing Sandhigata Vata (Osteoarthritis). Detailed macroscopic and microscopic analyses were conducted following standardized protocols to document distinctive anatomical features. The results revealed key differences in seed morphology, such as shape, size, and surface texture, along with microscopic variations in the testa and cotyledon structures, including the presence of starch grains, prismatic crystals, and oil globules. These findings provide valuable diagnostic markers for the authentication and quality control of herbal formulations and support the medicinal relevance of these seeds in Ayurvedic management of degenerative joint conditions. Keywords: Transverse section, pharmacognosy, Morphology, latifolia, Strach Grains. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
