EFFICACY OF YAVA KSHARA SUTRA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF NADI VRANA (PILONIDAL SINUS) – A CASE STUDY

. Abstract Pilonidal sinus disease is a chronic skin disease characterized by the presence of a small tunnel or tract under the skin, typically located in the natal cleft near the coccyx. It is most commonly seen in young adults, especially males, and is often associated with prolonged sitting, obesity, and excessive body hair, The condition results from the penetration of loose hairs into the skin, leading to a foreign body reaction and secondary infection. Clinical presentation varies from asymptomatic pits to painful abscess and recurrent drainage. Diagnosis is done by clinical examination and end anal ultrasonography, treatment modality includes medical management to incision and drainage to more expansive surgical techniques, reoccurrence rate is high if proper preventive measures are not followed. Ayurvedic comparison of Pilonidal sinus includes Shalyaja Nadi vrana where vata is the main culprit reaches the guda marga produces an opening in natal cleft. Treatment includes traditional procedures such as Kshara sutra. The present article deals with the Yava kshara sutra in the management of Nadi vrana. Keywords: Pilonidal Sinus, Kshara Sutra.
