A PROSPECTIVE COHORT STUDY ON PEPTIC ULCER AMONG THE COLLEGE STUDENTS

. Abstract Peptic ulcers encompass a diverse spectrum of disorders marked by the emergence of ulcers in segments of the gastrointestinal tract exposed to inadequate levels of acid, both in terms of duration and concentration. While these ulcers commonly take root in the small intestine (duodenum) or the stomach (gastric ulcer), peptic ulcer disease (PUD) stands out as a condition defined by the erosion of the inner lining of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, a consequence of excessive gastric acid secretion or the activity of pepsin.[2] This erosion extends deep into the muscularis propria layer of the gastric epithelium, with its most frequent occurrences typically found in the stomach and the proximal duodenum.[4] Keywords: .
