Abstract

Introduction: Kastartava, also known as dysmenorrhea or painful menstruation, is a common gynecological condition that affects women. Ayurvedic texts have mentioned it as a sign of several disorders, including Vatala yoni, Kukshishoola, Udavartini yonivyapada, etc. Vatavriddhi, or an increase in the Vata level brought on by Apanavayu, a form of Vata, margavarodha, or other factors, is the cause of the discomfort associated with dysmenorrhea. Ayurvedic and modern concept related to kastaetava(primary Dysmenorrhea) explained in details in this study. Drug Review: All details of both drugs explained in details with references. Group A Indrayava Churna and group B Atibala churna explained in details. Rasa, virya, Vipaka and guna with their chemical composition and pharmacological action explained in details. Clinical Study: Randomized comparative study of 50 patients were taken for study. Group A Indrayava churna contains 25 patients and Group B Atibala churna contains 25 patients each. Symptoms of kastartava distributed as a subjective and objective criterion for assessment and result. Result: According to the mean rank values, Group B had a greater influence than Group A on all variables (Yoni Prapeedan, Vedana Kalavadhi, Pippalika Sraptimiv, and Ayasa), Also Group B had a greater effect on Rajah Munchati Kala.
