. Abstract Traditional medicine encompasses a diverse array of healing practices that have been preserved and shared across generations within various cultures and civilizations for centuries. Medicinal plants have long held a central position in numerous cultural traditions as a primary source of medicine. These plants are recognized as a precious resource for traditional medicine, providing the foundation for the development of many modern pharmaceutical drugs. While prior research on traditional medicine has yielded significant insights, the current pace of novel drug development from these natural resources remains sluggish, often requiring years to assess their therapeutic potential. In recent years, advancements in artificial intelligence technologies have introduced innovative approaches to addressing challenges in herbal medicine research. This review aims to enhance the understanding of herbal therapeutics, the obstacles associated with its application, and the pivotal role of artificial intelligence in advancing research and therapeutic applications within the field of herbal medicine.
