A REVIEW ON TEA TREE OIL: NATURAL REAMEDY FOR ACNE AND PIMPLES IN SKINCARE

*Mr. Mayur

Abstract

This review explores the efficacy, safety, and therapeutic properties of tea tree oil Melaleuca alternifolia as a natural remedy for acne and pimples. Acne is a prevalent skin condition affecting millions worldwide, characterized by clogged hair follicles leading to various lesions such as blackheads, whiteheads, papules, pustules, nodules, and cysts. The condition is influenced by multiple factors, including hormonal changes, genetics, and lifestyle choices. Tea tree oil has gained significant attention due to its potent antibacterial and antiinflammatory properties, primarily attributed to its high content of terpinen-4-ol Clinical studies indicate that tea tree oil can effectively reduce both inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne lesions with fewer side effects compared to conventional treatments like benzoyl peroxide. However, proper usage is essential, it should be diluted with a carrier oil to minimize potential skin irritation. The versatility of tea tree oil extends beyond acne treatment to include benefits for oily skin and dandruff. This review emphasizes the importance of further research to standardize tea tree oil formulations and confirm its efficacy across diverse populations. As consumers increasingly seek natural alternatives in skincare, tea tree oil represents a valuable tool for achieving clearer skin and enhancing overall wellbeing By understanding its mechanisms of action and proper application methods, individuals can harness the potential of tea tree oil while minimizing unwanted side effects associated with traditional treatments.
