Abstract

Anal fissures are a common and painful condition characterized by a longitudinal tear in the distal anal canal. Despite initial pharmacological treatment, approximately 40% of patients experience recurrence or therapeutic failure, necessitating surgical intervention. This study aimed to explore an alternative treatment approach using Ayurvedic medicine and treated with Anal Infiltration of Durvadi Tailam, an Ayurvedic formulation, once in a day for a week and follow up with an interval of once a week upto 1 month. In this study, an effort is made to find out the significance of Durvadi tailam in the management of Parikartika by comparing its effects with Jatyadi tailam. The present study has been carried out to know the clinical efficacy of Durvadi taila and Jatyadi taila in the management of Parikartika, was conducted on 40 patients selected randomly and divided into two groups. The clinical assessment was done on the basis of grading criteria with specific symptoms of Fissure-in-ano like pain, burning sensation, bleeding, spasm of the sphincter, ulceration in anus. The results showed significant improvements in healing thereby reducing anal pressure in both the groups as demonstrated remarkable therapeutic benefits in managing anal fissures. This study suggests that Ayurvedic treatment can be a viable and effective alternative to conventional surgery for anal fissures, offering a promising therapeutic option for patients seeking non-invasive treatment.
