A LITERARY REVIEW ON SOMARAJI TAILA

. Abstract In Bhaishajya Kalpana also been included Aushadha as well as Ahara Kalpana. The Systematic and scientific description of “Bhaishajya- Kalpana” starts from Charka Samhita. By that time, the all-round development of Panchvidh Kashaya-Kalpana had already taken place, various concepts based out it like Churna, Sneha Paka, Aasva, Arista etc. had also developed. The primary Kalpana included in Aushadha Kalpana is called Panchvidh Kashaya Kalpana. One of the objectives of these five types of preparation is that different preparations of the same drug with different potencies can be prepared, so that the doctor can easily get the appropriate medicine according to the strength of the patient and the disease and there can be variety in the treatment. Also, if any preparations of the medicine are not effective on the patient, then there should be no difficulty in getting other preparations of the same medicine for the same purpose, because all preparations are not equally beneficial in all diseases. These Panchvidh Kashaya Kalpana have a short expiry period. Therefore, keep them safe for a long time, increase the medicinal properties and the shelf life, various formulations are done which are known as secondary Kalpana. These included Churna, Vati, Taila, Ghrita, Sandhan, Avaleha Kalpana. Sneha Kalpana is one of the commonly prescribed Ayurvedic dosage form day to day practice. Sneha Dravyas is of four types Ghrita, Taila, Vasa, Majja. Sneha means fat and fatty material and Kalpana means the process through which a substance is prepared into medicine. Somaraji Taila mentioned in Chakradatta, Bhaishajya Ratnavali, Ayurveda Formulary of India and Ayurveda Sara Sanghraha. It is a drug of choice of Kustha, Pama, Nilika etc. It is an herbal formulation consists of Bakuchi, Haridra, Daruharidra, Sarsapa, Kustha, Karnja, Chakramarda, Aragvadha, Sarsapa Taila, Cow’ urine.
