M. J. Patil*, V. S. Shirsat, A. M. Nar, Mohammed Maaz Mohammed Asif Bagdadi, Dilip Prakash Giratkar and Sanika Rakesh Bandhankar
. Abstract This case study presents a patient diagnosed with both TB and leprosy, focusing on the clinical presentation, diagnostic challenges, and management strategies employed. The patient, residing in a region with high prevalence of both diseases, presented with symptoms suggestive of TB and subsequent testing revealed co-infection with leprosy. The study details the diagnostic process, including sputum analysis, skin slit smears, and immunological tests. Treatment involved a combination of anti-TB medications and MDT (Multy drug Therapy) for leprosy, considering potential drug interactions and monitoring for side effects. The patient's response to treatment and the lessons learned regarding early diagnosis and management of co-infection are discussed. The significance of this case study lies in its contribution to understanding the clinical implications of co-infection with TB and leprosy, particularly in resource-limited settings. Keywords: .
