A PILOT SURVEY ON THE PREVALENCE OF KAPHAJIRNA IN TYPE II DIABETES MELLITUS PATIENTS

Abstract

In which condition food cannot be digested easily and it causes various diseases is called as Ajirna and it is root cause of many diseases. According to Cha. Chi. 15/45,46; general symptoms of Ajirna are described as Kshudhamandya, Aruchi, Udara Gaurava, Adhmana, Constipation or loose motion, Glani, Angasada, Bhrama, Shirashoola, Atijrumbha, Jwara etc. According to predominance of doshas causing Ajirna; the type of Ajirna is indicated as Vataja, Pittaja, Kaphaja etc. the same types are described in Madhavanidana as Vishtabdhajirna, Vidagdhajirna and Amajirna respectively. Amajirna is Kaphaja Vikara arising due to Kapha vruddhikara hetus. Achrya Charaka described the production of Yakshma, Pinasa, Meha etc. kaphaja vyadhis because of Kaphajirna in Ch.Chi. 15/47,48. Hence it can be directly stated that, Kaphajirna is initial step of samprapti (pathogenesis) of Prameha. Therefore, it is of much importance to make efforts in this area to define pathogenesis and treatment approach of Prameha.
