A CRITICAL REVIEW ON TWACHA IN RELATION TO DEHA PRAKRITI

. Abstract Ayurveda, the “Science of Life”, is a real wealth of medical sciences. In Ayurvedic oldest text Sushruta Samhita- Shareer sthana, Acharya Sushruta has mentioned five sensory organs i.e. Gyanendriyas. Sparshanendriya is one of them whose adhishthana is Twacha (skin). As we know, skin is the largest sense organ of the body which sense touch, pain, pressure, temperature etc. It is also known as “The First Line of Defence”. Vatika Prakriti person has Krushna varna, alpa & ruksh kesh, Paittika Prakriti person has pingal & gaur varna, also they having tilkalaka, pipalu vyanga in their body, mrudu & alpa kesh- Loma, Early vali palita and excess sweating with smell. Kaphaja prakriti has sukumar, avadata colour, bahul kesh & dirghloma. When we know the Prakriti of an individual, we also identify the skin of that individual. Now a day, due to changing life style & increased stressful life, majority of population are facing problems related to skin disease. The depth of knowledge related to features of skin provides as easy diagnostic methods for various kinds of skin disease. Keywords: Sparshanendriya, Gyanendriyas, Adhishthana.
