EXPLORING AMA AS AN AYURVEDIC INFLAMMATORY MEDIATOR: A REVIEW WITH REFERENCE TO AMAVATA
Neha Yadav*, Rita Singh and Gaurav Shrivastava
Abstract In the present era, inflammatory disorders like Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) are rising due to poor lifestyle, dietary habits, and stress—all of which are contributors to Ama formation as per Ayurveda. While modern medicine explains RA as an autoimmune inflammatory disease mediated by cytokines and immune complexes, Ayurveda attributes such disorders to Ama and its systemic circulation through vitiated Vata. Exploring the correlation between Ama and modern inflammation provides an opportunity to understand chronic disorders through an integrative lens, bridging ancient Ayurvedic knowledge with contemporary immunopathology. This can also open avenues for effective, safe, and holistic management strategies that emphasize Agni-balancing, detoxification, and immune modulation. Keywords: Ama, Amavata, Inflammation, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Agni. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
