VARIATION IN THE DRAINAGE PATTERN OF INFERIOR MESENTERIC VEIN – A CASE REPORT
Dr. Bindu M. Bhandari* and Dr. Krishnamurthy N.
Abstract This article examines the variation in the drainage pattern of Inferior Mesenteric Vein. During the routine cadaveric dissection of the abdomen at the department of PG and PhD Studies in Shrira Rachana a variation in the draining pattern was seen. The Inferior mesenteric vein was found to join left colic vein, which in turn joined middle colic vein which then drained into Superior mesenteric vein. Understanding the Inferior Mesenteric Vein’s anatomy and drainage patterns is vital for surgical procedures and assessing potential complications like mesenteric venous thrombosis and portal hypertension. Keywords: Inferior mesenteric vein, Anatomical variation, Portal vein, Portal hypertension. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
