AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF STAMMERING (GADGAD) OR VAKVIKRITI WITH KSHIRABALA NASYA AND VIDDHA KARMA: A CLINICAL REVIEW

Abstract Stammering (Gadgad or Vak Vikriti) is a speech disorder characterized by involuntary repetition, prolongation, or interruption in the flow of speech. In Ayurveda, it is attributed to vitiation of Vata Dosha, especially Prana Vata, which governs speech coordination and nervous control. This article explores the therapeutic efficacy of Kshirabala Taila Nasya and Viddha Karma in the management of stammering. A clinical case is presented along with a discussion on the Ayurvedic principles, mode of action of treatments, and observed outcomes. The combination therapy showed promising results in improving speech fluency, reducing anxiety, and enhancing quality of life.
