Abstract Flowers are known for their phytochemicals, which give them color, flavor, and aroma. Compounds like anthocyanins, flavonoids, carotenoids, and phenolic compounds are responsible for color, flavor, aroma, and health improvement effects. In our study we studied the Total Phenolic Content present in flowers of Clitoria ternatea, Ixora coccinea, Tithonia diversifolia by extracting phytochemicals from flowers of Clitoria ternatea, Ixora coccinea, Tithonia diversifolia using methanol as a solvent, as estimation of Total Phenolic content is a measure of its antioxidant properties. In Clitoria ternatea and Ixora coccinea, alkaloids, glycosides, and flavonoids are present, and steroids, terpenes were absent. Whereas Tithonia diversifolia showed presence of alkaloids and glycosides and flavanoids, and steroids, terpenes were absent. Methanol as a polar solvent has impacted the extraction of phenolic content in all the three plants the concentration of phenolic content is found to be 52.36 μgGAEq, 38.03 μgGAEq, 45.36 μgGAEq. Keywords: Clitoria ternatea, Ixora coccinea, Tithonia diversifolia , flavonoids, Total Phenolic content, Methanol. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
