RECONSTRUCTIVE MANAGEMENT OF POST-ESCHAROTOMY WOUND: A SKIN GRAFTING APPROACH
*Dr. Buddhiraj Satish Tupare, Dr. Nandkishor V. Borse
. Abstract This case study highlights the management of a non-healing postescharotomy wound in a 51-year-old male with uncontrolled Type II diabetes mellitus. Following a right lower limb escharotomy due to trauma, the patient developed a large, infected wound that was managed conservatively with antibiotics and glycemic control, followed by surgical intervention using a split-thickness skin graft (STSG). The graft was harvested from the bilateral thighs and immobilized with a posterior splint. Post-operative recovery showed excellent graft uptake with no complications. This case emphasizes the importance of infection control, proper wound bed preparation, and graft immobilization in ensuring successful outcomes, particularly in high-risk diabetic patients.
