Dr. Simran Rathod*, Dr. Mayuri Patil, Dr. Ankush Gunjal
Abstract Vicharchika is a chronic and relapsing skin disorder that closely resembles the modern medical condition eczema. It is classified under the broad category of Kshudra Kushtha in Ayurveda. Characterized by symptoms like Kandu (itching), Pidaka (pustules), Shyava varna (discoloration), and Srava (oozing), Vicharchika presents a challenge due to its stubborn nature and recurrence. This review explores the classical references, etiopathogenesis, doshic involvement, samprapti (pathogenesis), and chikitsa sutra (principles of treatment) of Vicharchika, integrating ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with contemporary understanding. The treatment includes shodhana (biopurification), shamana (palliative therapy), and local applications, supported by a wholesome diet and lifestyle modifications. This article aims to provide an in-depth understanding of Vicharchika and the effectiveness of Ayurvedic management approaches through classical textual references and clinical insights. Keywords: Vicharchika, Eczema, Kushtha, Ayurvedic dermatology, Kandu, Pidaka. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
