Abstract

Euphorbia is one of the most diverse genera of flowering plants, widely distributed across various ecological regions and traditionally used in folk medicine. Recent phytochemical investigations have revealed that Euphorbia species are rich in a variety of bioactive compounds, including alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, and phenolic compounds. This review summarizes the current state of knowledge regarding the phytochemical composition of different Euphorbia species and their potential pharmacological activities, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anticancer effects. By comparing studies from multiple regions and extraction techniques, we highlight species with the most promising bioactive profiles. The review also discusses the potential applications of Euphorbia-derived compounds in drug development and identifies key areas for future research. This review also includes the varies biological and insecticidal activity of euphorbia species. Euphorbia plants have wide variety of helpful chemicals. Some species had higher amount of phytochemicals than others. This means that some type of euphorbia may be better source for developing new medicine in the future.
