Abstract The antiphytopathogenic effects of Cladophoraglomerata (Lin.) Kützing (Cladophoraceae) the crude methanol extract which isolated from Al Rashidiya region at north of Baghdad was investigated against two type of plantpathoginic fungi (Pythiumultimum and Rhizoctoniasolani) which causes damping off disease. The phyto fungi were isolated from covered cucumber field in Al-Alyosifia region. Hot methanol extract showed antifungal activity against the two species of fungi in different concentrations (10,25,50 mg/ml) of extract to Cladophoraglomerata as percentage inhibition (51.63 ,72.8 ,83.71) and (56.18 ,77.41 ,100)comparing with Pythiumultimum and Rhizoctoniasolani respectively .primary detection of active compounds showed that Cladophoraglomerata containing flavonoids, alkaloids, phenols and tannins. GC-Mass was used to know the compounds which responsible of antifungal activity and they were 8-Pentadecanone was found to be a major compound (42.67%) followed by 8-Octadecanone (22.43%) also followed by Salicylic acid (20.04%) and 10-hexadecaden (8.01%). Our findings suggest the possibility of using the Cladophoraglomerata as a novel source of natural antifungal agents for pharmaceutical industries.
