INTEGRATING HOMOEOPATHY INTO COMMUNITY-BASED MANAGEMENT OF MYASTHENIA GRAVIS: OPPORTUNITIES AND PUBLIC HEALTH CHALLENGES
Dr. Don J. Scott Berin G. MD (Hom)*, Dr. V. J. Beautlin Previncy, MD (Hom)
Abstract Background: Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disorder that significantly affects physical functioning and quality of life, necessitating long-term community-based care. Integrative approaches involving homoeopathy have gained attention in patient-centered healthcare. Objective: To explore the opportunities and public health challenges associated with integrating homoeopathy into community-based management of myasthenia gravis. Methods: A narrative review of published literature on myasthenia gravis, community medicine, chronic disease management, and complementary healthcare was conducted. Results: Community-based management emphasizes patient education, rehabilitation, psychosocial support, and continuity of care. Homoeopathy may offer individualized supportive care and enhance patient engagement. However, challenges include limited high-quality evidence, lack of standardized protocols, and barriers to integration within conventional healthcare systems. Conclusion: Further multidisciplinary research and evidence-based evaluation are needed to clarify the role of homoeopathy in comprehensive community-oriented management of myasthenia gravis.
