Abstract

Different organs have different metabolic functions and capabilities. In this article we consider how the special needs of mammalian body organs are met and how their metabolic capabilities are coordinated to meet the demands. This review explores the metabolic profile of brain and adipose tissue under fasting and well fed conditions.
