Abstract

THE CLINICAL IMPORTANCE OF THERMAL MODALITIES IN HOMEOPATHIC REMEDY SELECTION: A NARRATIVE REVIEW

Dr. Atul Kumar Singh, Dr. Abdul Wahid, Dr. Mukesh Sengar, Dr. Yogendra Meena, Dr. Bharat Sharma*

Abstract

Thermal modalities, commonly described as a patient's sensitivity to heat and cold, represent one of the most significant general symptoms in homeopathic case-taking. They provide valuable guidance in remedy selection because they reflect the patient's constitutional reaction rather than merely local pathological changes. Classical homeopathic literature, particularly the works of Hahnemann, Kent, Boenninghausen, and Boger, emphasizes that general symptoms—including thermal reactions—should receive higher priority than particular symptoms during repertorization. This narrative review discusses the concept of thermal modalities, their physiological and homeopathic significance, their role in remedy differentiation, common thermal remedy groups, and their clinical application. Understanding thermal modalities improves remedy individualization and increases the likelihood of successful prescribing.

Keywords: Homeopathy, Thermal Modalities, Remedy Selection, Constitution, General Symptoms, Individualization.
