Abstract

STABILOMICS: MECHANISTIC ROLE AND TRANSITION TOWARD TRIS (2,4-DI-TERT-BUTYLPHENYL) PHOSPHATE-FREE POLYMERIC FILMS

Pallab Mandal*, Priyabrata Pattnaik, Chandan Sah, Prasenjit Swain, Sagar Maharana

Abstract

This review critically examines the multifunctional role of tris (2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl) phosphate as a secondary antioxidant in polymeric film technology. The paper discusses its molecular stabilization mechanism, synergistic interactions with primary antioxidants, processing behaviour, degradation pathways, migration characteristics, toxicological profile, regulatory considerations and industrial applications. Particular emphasis is placed on the increasing demand for tris (2,4-ditert- butylphenyl) phosphate -free polymeric films driven by stringent regulatory requirements, sustainability objectives, pharmaceutical and food-contact packaging standards, and advances in non-migratory stabilizer technologies. Current challenges, emerging stabilization strategies and future research directions are also highlighted.

Keywords: tris (2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl) phosphate, Phosphate antioxidant, Polymer stabilization, Additive migration, Polymer degradation, Foodcontact packaging, Sustainable polymer additives, tris (2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl) phosphatefree films. Stabilomics, Seconda
