PSORIASIS: A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF ITS CLINICAL FEATURES, PATHOGENESIS AND HOMOEOPATHIC MANAGEMENT

Abstract

Psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated inflammatory skin disorder characterized by well-demarcated erythematous plaques with overlying silvery scales. It may occur at any age and is associated with significant physical, psychological and social burden.[1,2] Chronic plaque psoriasis is the most common clinical phenotype. Genetic susceptibility together with environmental triggers contributes to disease development, while the IL-23/IL-17 inflammatory pathway plays a central role in its pathogenesis.[1,3] Homoeopathic literature includes observational studies, randomized controlled trials and case reports evaluating individualized treatment in psoriasis.[4-8] The present case report describes the homoeopathic approach to a case of chronic plaque psoriasis, including detailed case taking, totality of symptoms, repertorial analysis, miasmatic assessment, individualized prescription and follow-up.
