SOME HISTOPATHOLOGY AND BIOCHEMISTRY CHANGES OF CARICA PAPAYA USED TO TREAT GIARDIA LAMBLIA IN MICE
Shatha K. Abbas* and Mustafa K. Mallakh Al-Fatlawy
Abstract The study aimed to determine the effect of the seeds extract of Carica papaya on some aspects of histological and biochemistry changes in mice infected with Giardia lamblia and study the effect of Papaya seeds extract with Flagyl on the parasite infection and comparison between them. Used 100 from the Swedish mice aged (6-10) weeks and the rate of their weight (8-23) g infected with Giardia, it is divided into 5 equal groups. First group was negative control (injected with normal saline), second group was positive group (injected with Giardia without treatment), third group was dosage with flagyl to treat it, fourth group was dosage with seeds extract of C. papaya in a concentration 2% and fifth group was dosage with seeds extract of C. papaya in a concentration 5%. Biochemical and histopathological changes in these mice were studies where measured liver enzymes including glutamate-oxaloacetate transaminase (GOT) and glutamate-pyruvate transaminase (GPT), level of sugar was also measured in the blood serum, level of cholesterol, some minerals were measured (Mg, Ca, K and Na). The results showed there are high in the level of enzymes (GPT, GOT) in all groups after treatment, also Observe a rise in the value of cholesterol in the blood serum of mice that have been treated with metronidazole and aqueous extract of C. papaya seeds in a focus of 2% whereas its value Diminishing in the blood serum of mice which were infected with Giardia (control/ve+ group) and the mice that have been treated with aqueous extract of C. papaya seeds in a focus of 5%, there is decrease in the level of concentration of each Mg, Ca, Na, K after treated comparing with control group, and the results showed diverse changes in the intestines and liver of the mice include Necrosis, cellular infiltration, Palace in the villi, bloody congestion and accumulate the fats. The best results were for flagyl, and then for aqueous extract of Carica papaya in a concentration 2%. Keywords: . [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
