EVALUATION OF AGNIKARMA AND MARMA CHIKITSA AS AYURVEDIC INTERVENTIONS IN CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS: A COMPARATIVE STUDY
Dr. Sneh Ranga*, Kavita, Mamta
Abstract In today’s fast-paced lifestyle, prolonged sitting, reduced physical activity, and poor postural habits have become increasingly common across different age groups. These lifestyle changes have contributed to a growing incidence of musculoskeletal problems, including cervical spondylosis. From an Ayurvedic perspective, the clinical features of cervical spondylosis can be correlated with Manyastambha, which is primarily characterised by pain, stiffness, and restricted movement in the neck region.[1] Classical Ayurvedic texts offer several therapeutic approaches for managing such conditions, among which Agnikarma and Marma Chikitsa are particularly noteworthy. Both therapies have shown promising results in relieving symptoms; however, their comparative effectiveness may help determine which approach provides faster and more lasting relief. This study explores the role of these traditional Ayurvedic therapies in managing lifestyle-related cervical disorders and highlights their potential relevance in today’s increasingly sedentary lifestyle. Keywords: Manyastambha, cervical spondylosis, agnikarma, marma Chikitsa, Ayurveda, neck Pain, sedentary Lifestyle, postural disorders, Ayurvedic therapy and musculoskeletal disorders.
