OZONE - A NEW REVOLUTION IN DENTISTRY

Abstract OZONE an allotropic form of oxygen has successfully being used for treatment of various diseases since more than 100 years. The versatility of ozone therapy, its unique properties, non invasive nature, absence of side effects or adverse reactions were responsible for its wide spread use. It is highly valued for various effects, such as antimicrobial, antihypoxic, analgesic, immunostimulating etc. on biological systems. These mechanisms of action supported with a lot of case reports and scientific studies allow using it in different fields of medicine. This review of literature is an another attempt to summarize its therapeutic potential in dentistry and its possible clinical applications in future.
