Abstract Xylan is the most abundant natural polysaccharides and renewable resource for bio-refinery and industrial biotechnological application. Xylan is a complex polymer of xylanopyranoside residue with substitution by arabinosyl, acetyl, uronyl, mannosyl and glucosyl side chain. The complete hydrolysis of xylan requires synergistic action of several hemicellulase among which xylanase and xylosidase act on the xylan backbone and are considered major players in the hydrolysis process. Xylan-degrading enzyme is produce by both bacteria and fungi that are potentially useful in industrial application. An alkalophilic bacterium (Bacillus halodurans C-125) is producing enzymes which are catalytically efficient at broad pH range. Keywords: [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
