Abstract Diabetes is such a worse condition of a system when other parts of body are also suffered due to high glucose. Taken together, hyperglycemia may produce vascular dysfunctions, nerve damage, hypertension, insulin resistance and most importantly diabetic nephropathy. High glucose in blood can also generate free radicals which further initiate several pathways to produce more and more harmful components like NF-κβ, TNF-α, MIP, TGF-β, MMP-9, MDA, α-SMA, β-actin, β-integrin, IL-1β, Nox-4 and many more. Inside the kidney, oxidative stress has been blaming for recruitment of immune cell, stimulation of fibroblastic tissue, accumulation of mast cell and unbalancing iron metabolism protein known as heme oxygenase. Free radicals often damage cell membrane, hamper cytoplasm and alter genetic code inside nucleus. Evidences explore that plant bases anti-oxidants treatment are more appropriate on diabetic nephropathy compared to synthetics. Phenolic acid contents and flavonoids are being widely used to treat many diseases. Thus this review will try to describe and disclose about the possible treatment approach against diabetic nephropathy by anti-oxidant therapy. Keywords: Diabetes, Diabetic nephropathy, oxidative stress, down regulated molecules, anti-oxidant therapy. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
