SIMPLE AND EFFICIENT PROTOCOL FOR THE SYNTHESIS OF 1, 2, 4, 5-TETRASUBSTITUTED IMIDAZOLES PROMOTED BY BISMUTH (III) BROMIDE

Abstract
A simple and efficient protocol has been developed for the synthesis of
1, 2, 4, 5-tetrasubstituted imidazoles via four-component using like
1,2-diketones, aryl aldehydes, aryl amines and ammonium acetate in
the presence of Bismuth (III) bromide as a promoter and ethanol as a
solvent and stirred at 80oC for 30 min. The reaction proceeded in short
period of time with high yields using low toxicity bismuth compound.
