Abstract The aim of the present study was to determine antibacterial efficacy of methanol extract of Anisomeles indica Linn. (Lamiaceae) leaf against isolates of Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus mutans from burn and dental caries. Agar well diffusion method was employed to determine inhibitory efficacy of extract. The isolates were found to be sensitive to leaf extract. Overall, isolates of S. aureus were shown to be susceptible to higher extent than isolates of S. mutans. The plant can be used for the development of agents active against pathogens. Further, isolation of bioactive principles from the leaf extract and determination of their bioactivity are to be carried out. Keywords: [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
