Abstract
The present experiment was conducted on “Effect of metabolic size of crossbred Cows on compositional quality of raw milk produced at SHIATS Dairy Farm Allahabadâ€Â. The twenty crossbred Cows of the Sundaresan school of Animal Husbandry & Dairying of SHIATS Dairy Farm Allahabad were subjected to Californian mastitis test (CMT) with negative were selected. All experimental animals were fed & managed under tail to tail system of housing at SHIATS Dairy farm. Crossbred Cows were milked by dry full hand method of milking. First two to three streams of fore milk from each quarter of udder were discarded. Milk samples were taken directly from the udder and analyzed for determination of fat, Protein, lactose, Ash, total solid (TS), solid not fat (SNF), Water, acidity and specific gravity (sp. gr.) percentage in milk. The results showed that metabolic size of crossbred cows had no significant effect on protein, lactose, Ash, T.S., SNF, Water and Acidity in milk, but it had a significant effect on fat and sp.gr. percentage in milk. It was revealed that Crossbred Cows of 244 – 285 and 286 – 327 metabolic size produced better compositional quality of raw milk containing significantly more fat & sp.gr.
