VERMICOMPOST PRODUCTION AND NUTRIENT ANALYSIS USING EUDRILLUS EUGINE
Vinothini V.*, Anuradha R.* and Senthilkumar R.*
Abstract In modern times due to industrialization and simultaneous population explosion, Pollution has suddenly come to the forefront. In fact, waste can be converted into useful products using suitable recycling techniques. The recycling of waste through vermitechnology reduces the problem of non-utilization of agro wastes. Nutrients present in vermicompost are readily available and the increase in earthworm population on the application of vermicompost. The present study was carried out to Eudrillus euginea worms were used to production of vermicompost. The vermibeds were properly maintained throughout the research. After 40-45 days vermicompost was collected and packed in polythene bag. The nutrient analysis of vermicompost was analysed. The pH was 6.85, moisture content 63%, organic carbon 11.50% and total nitrogen 1.15%, phosphorous 0.70% and potassium 0.67% were recorded.
